The eight route families

Every public page on AltFTool belongs to one family. Knowing the family tells you which hub to open and what kind of page to expect.

How the tool library is categorised

The tool library uses one canonical category list everywhere: the directory, site search, navigation and the site map. A tool can sit in more than one category; the Image Compressor, for instance, appears under both Image & Video and Design & Color.

The categories are AI Tools, PDF & Documents, Image & Video, Text & Writing, Converters, Generators, Calculators, Finance & Business, Health & Fitness, Developer, Design & Color, Marketing & Social, Security & Privacy, Education & Science, Productivity, Lifestyle, Fun, Games and Other. Each has its own hub at /tools/<category>, for example /tools/converters or /tools/finance-business.

URL patterns worth knowing

AltFTool URLs are predictable, which makes them easy to bookmark and share:

Tools versus products

A tool does one job on one page: convert, calculate, generate or check. A product workspace strings several related jobs together around a goal, with its own status label and privacy note. AltF Career, for example, gathers resume, interview and application helpers; AltF Security runs a private HTML review and links to focused security utilities.

If you only need a single result, start in the tool directory. If you will repeat a whole process, such as turning meeting transcripts into action items every week, a product is usually quicker. The products overview describes each one.

When you cannot find something

The site map lists every indexed public route and is searchable. Site search (Ctrl+K, Cmd+K or /) matches tool names, descriptions, categories and guides. If a tool genuinely does not exist yet, ask for it on Request a Tool.
