How Deals checks software prices

Every price on the Deals page is transcribed from the vendor's own official pricing page on a recorded date, and each row links to that page. No third-party aggregator feeds or estimated averages are used.

Some vendors show different currencies depending on where you visit from. Rather than converting at an exchange rate you were never offered, Deals publishes the figure in the currency quoted and labels it as not a USD price. If a figure disagrees with the vendor's live checkout, the vendor is right; plans change.

How to decide whether to pay

  1. Name the job

Write down the exact task, such as 'compress 30 product photos a week' or 'merge monthly invoices'.

  2. Try the free tool first

Open the AltFTool page Deals suggests for that job, for example the Image Compressor or PDF Merger, and run a real file through it.

  3. Check the paid tier's real limits

Compare the free-tier caps listed on Deals with how often and how much you do the job.

  4. Work out the true cost

Use the Discount Calculator or Percentage Calculator to compare annual against monthly billing, and the GST Calculator if tax is added at checkout.

Offers, vouchers and affiliate links

BuySmart and Exclusive Deals link to outside merchants. AltFTool has affiliate relationships with some featured stores and may earn a small commission when you buy through a link, at no extra cost to you. This is disclosed on those pages.

Before relying on an offer, check its expiry date, who it applies to, the merchant's terms, and whether the discount actually appears before you pay. AltFTool does not sell products itself, so orders, returns and refunds are handled by the merchant.

Frequently asked questions

Are the prices on AltFTool Deals up to date?

Each price shows the date it was checked against the vendor's official pricing page. Plans change, so the vendor's live checkout is always the final word.

Does AltFTool earn money from deals?

Some merchant links in BuySmart and Exclusive Deals are affiliate links, which may earn AltFTool a small commission at no extra cost to you. The Deals price comparison does not use affiliate data.

Can AltFTool replace paid software?

For single, focused jobs, often yes. For complex needs like non-destructive editing, OCR, automation pipelines or cloud collaboration, a paid suite may be the better choice.
