Ads and Analytics on AltFTool: What Runs and Why
AltFTool is free because it carries advertising: Google ads and AltFTool's own house promotions. It uses Google Analytics and lightweight performance measurement in production, with ad and analytics storage denied by default in the EEA, UK and Switzerland until consent is given.

Why AltFTool shows ads
Thousands of AltFTool tools and guides are free to use without an account. Advertising is what pays for hosting, development and maintenance. Ad placements are capped per page so tools stay usable, and each template has a limit on how many ad units it may carry.
- Google ads: display units served through Google AdSense, including automatically placed ads on some pages.
- House ads: promotions for AltFTool's own products, deals and partners, managed by the AltFTool team.
- Affiliate links: some shopping and deals pages link to merchants that may pay a commission. The affiliate disclosure explains this.
Pages that never show ads
Some surfaces are kept ad-free on purpose, because ads there would get in the way or would be inappropriate:
- Your account and the sign-in, sign-up and password pages.
- Support and settings pages.
- All policy pages, such as the privacy policy, cookie policy and disclaimer.
- The distraction-free Fullscreen Text Display.
- Error and page-not-found screens.
Analytics and performance measurement
In production, AltFTool uses Google Analytics to understand which pages and tools are used, and a Google Ads tag to measure campaigns. Analytics tags are not run when the site is opened on a local development machine.
AltFTool also records anonymous page-speed measurements (Core Web Vitals such as load and responsiveness timings) and sends them to its own endpoint. These numbers help find slow pages; they are about the page, not about you.
Consent and your controls
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's Consent Mode is set so that ad storage, ad personalisation, ad user data and analytics storage are denied by default. Ad data redaction is also enabled. Tags then work in a restricted, cookieless way unless consent is updated.
Wherever you are, you can control tracking from your browser: block third-party cookies, clear site data, or use your browser's privacy features. Google's own ad settings let you manage personalised ads. The Ad Topic Profile Explainer walks through how interest-based ad topics work and how to reset them on major platforms.
