AltAI is the free AI assistant built into AltFTool. It answers general questions the way any modern chat assistant does, and it also knows AltFTool's own catalogue — so it can point you at the right tool, dataset or product for what you are trying to do.
Is AltAI free to use?
Yes. AltAI is free and needs no account. Conversations are stored in your own browser, not on AltFTool's servers, so clearing your browser data clears your history.
Does AltAI keep my conversations?
No. Your chats are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. AltFTool does not store them, and they are not used to train anything. Messages are sent to the language model only to produce an answer.
What can AltAI help with?
Anything you would ask a general assistant — explaining a concept, writing and editing, debugging code, planning, translating. Can I control how long AltAI's answers are?
Yes. Pick Concise, Balanced or Detailed above the message box. Concise gives the shortest answer that still fully answers the question; Detailed adds reasoning, edge cases and examples. Your choice is remembered in your browser.
Can I talk to AltAI instead of typing?
In browsers that support speech recognition, such as Chrome and Edge, a microphone button appears in the message box. AltAI can also read any answer aloud using your browser's built-in voice. Neither needs an account or extra software.
