What the Homework Helper does

The AltAI Homework Helper is a general AI chat model set up to tutor. Type a question in maths, science, history, languages or another subject, and it explains the idea behind it, works through the steps and checks your understanding with a quick follow-up. It is free, needs no account, and conversations are stored in your browser.

It is designed to help you learn, so it will guide you through problems rather than simply hand over finished essays. Language models make mistakes, including arithmetic slips and confident wrong facts, so check answers against your textbook or class notes. It cannot see photos of worksheets; type the question out. Follow your school's rules on using AI for assignments.

  • Step-by-step working

Problems are broken into clear steps, each on its own line, with the final answer stated.

  • Concept first

It explains the idea behind a question so you can tackle similar ones yourself.

  • Check questions

Each explanation ends with a short question to confirm you followed it.

  • Learning, not shortcuts

For essays it helps you plan and improve your own work instead of writing it for you.

Questions

Is the AltAI Homework Helper free?

Yes. The Homework Helper is a free mode in AltAI and does not require an account. Students can ask as many questions as they need within normal fair-use limits. Conversations are saved in the browser on the device being used, not in an online account.

Can I trust its answers?

Not completely. Language models sometimes make calculation errors or state incorrect facts with confidence. The helper is told to show its working and say when it is unsure, which makes mistakes easier to spot. Compare answers with your textbook, notes or teacher, especially before tests.

Will it just do my homework for me?

It is designed to teach. It explains concepts, works through example steps and helps you plan and improve your own writing. If you ask it to write a whole assignment to hand in, it will offer to help you build your own version instead. Check your school's policy on AI use.

Can I upload a photo of my worksheet?

No. The chat works with text only and cannot read images. Type the question out, including any numbers, units and diagrams described in words. Typing it also helps you notice exactly what the question is asking.

Which subjects does it cover?

It can help with most school and early university subjects, including maths, physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography, economics, literature and languages. It is most reliable on well-established topics and less reliable on very recent events or niche specialist material, where you should check other sources.
