What the Writing Assistant does

The AltAI Writing Assistant is a general AI chat model given one extra instruction: help you write. Tell it what the piece is for, who will read it and roughly how long it should be, and it will suggest an outline, draft sections or rework a paragraph you already have. It is free, needs no account, and your conversations are stored only in your own browser.

Treat what it writes as a starting point, not a finished article. Language models can state things confidently that are not true, repeat common phrasing, or miss the tone you had in mind. Check any facts, names and figures yourself, and rewrite the parts that do not sound like you. The best results come from short rounds of feedback rather than one long request.

  • Outline before drafting

For longer pieces it proposes a structure first, so you can fix the shape before any sentences are written.

  • Section-by-section drafts

Drafts arrive in manageable parts you can approve, cut or redirect one at a time.

  • Tone and length control

Ask for formal, casual, warm or direct, and a target word count, and it adjusts the draft.

  • Flags facts to check

It is told not to invent sources or numbers and to mark claims you should verify.

Tips for better answers

  • Name the reader: "for first-time home buyers" gives better drafts than "for everyone".
  • Paste an example of writing you like and ask it to match the tone.
  • Give a word count or a number of paragraphs.
  • Ask for three alternative openings and pick the strongest.

Questions

Is the AltAI Writing Assistant free?

Yes. The Writing Assistant is part of AltAI, which is free to use without creating an account. You open the page, choose the Writer mode and start typing. Conversations are saved in your own browser rather than in an account, so clearing your browser data removes them.

Can I trust the facts in what it writes?

Not without checking. The assistant is a language model, and language models can produce details that sound right but are wrong. It is instructed not to invent sources or statistics and to flag claims to verify, but you should still confirm every fact, date, name and number before you publish anything it helped draft.

Will the text be original?

The model generates new text for each request rather than copying a stored article, but it can still produce common phrases and familiar structures. It cannot check your draft against other published work. If originality matters, add your own examples and experience, and run the final text through whatever checks your school or publisher requires.

What kinds of writing does it handle best?

It works well for outlines, first drafts, bios, announcements, product descriptions, short articles and rewriting paragraphs for clarity. It is less reliable for anything that depends on recent events, specialist legal or medical detail, or your personal knowledge, because it only knows what you tell it and what it learned in training.

How do I get it to sound like me?

Paste two or three short samples of your own writing and ask it to describe your style, then ask it to draft in that style. Tell it which words or phrases you never use. After the draft, edit it yourself; small personal changes usually do more for your voice than another round of prompting.
