What the Summary Generator does
The AltAI Summary Generator is a general AI chat model instructed to condense text. Paste an article, meeting notes, a report section or a long message and it returns a one-line summary, the key points and any action items. Because it is a chat, you can then ask what a section means or request a shorter version. It is free, needs no account, and chats stay in your browser.
If you only need a quick summary of a block of text, the AltFTool Text Summarizer tool is the faster option, and the PDF Summarizer handles PDF files. Use this chat when you want to choose the format or ask questions afterwards. It cannot open links or read files, so paste the text itself. Summaries can omit or misstate details, so check anything important against the original.
Summary, points, actions
The default layout gives a one-line summary, key bullet points and any action items.
Sticks to your text
It is told to use only what you pasted, without adding outside facts.
Follow-up questions
Ask what a point means or request a shorter or longer version in the same chat.
Written for your reader
Ask for a summary for a manager, a student or a non-specialist and it adjusts the wording.
How to use the Summary Generator
- 1

- Ask it to quote the line each key point came from.
- Paste very long text in parts and ask for a combined summary at the end.
Questions
Is the AltAI Summary Generator free?
Yes. It is a free mode inside AltAI and does not require an account. Paste your text and get a summary straight away. Your conversation history is saved in your own browser rather than on an account, so it is removed if you clear your browser data.
Can it summarise a web page, YouTube video or PDF?
Not directly. The chat cannot open links, watch videos or read uploaded files. Copy the text you want summarised and paste it into the chat. For PDF files, the AltFTool PDF Summarizer extracts the text from the file for you, and the Text Summarizer handles pasted text in one step.
How accurate are the summaries?
Usually close, but not guaranteed. A language model can leave out a point that matters to you, merge two ideas or misread a number. It is instructed to use only the pasted text and keep figures exact, yet you should check key facts against the original before relying on the summary for decisions or study.
When should I use the Text Summarizer tool instead?
Use the Text Summarizer when you want a fast, single summary of a block of text with no conversation. Use this chat when you want a specific format, a summary for a particular audience, action items, or the ability to ask follow-up questions about what the text says.
Is there a length limit?
Very long text may be cut off or summarised less carefully, because the model can only consider a limited amount at once. A few pages of text is usually fine. For longer material, paste it in sections, summarise each one, then ask for an overall summary of the section summaries.
