What the Prompt Generator does
The AltAI Prompt Generator is a general AI chat model instructed to write prompts for text-based AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or AltAI itself. Describe what you want an AI to do, and it asks a few questions, then writes a structured prompt with the role, context, task, output format and constraints. It is free, needs no account, and your chats stay in your browser.
This mode is for text and chat prompts. For image prompts for Midjourney, Stable Diffusion and similar tools, use AltFTool's Image Prompt Generator at /imgprompt instead. A better prompt usually gives a better answer, but no prompt guarantees accuracy: the AI you send it to can still make mistakes, so check its output as usual.

- Say which AI tool you will use the prompt with.
- Describe the ideal output, including length and format.
- Include an example of good output if you have one.
- Ask for a shorter version once the structure is right.

Is the AltAI Prompt Generator free?
Yes. The Prompt Generator is a free mode in AltAI and does not require an account. You can write and refine as many prompts as you need within normal fair-use limits. Conversations are saved in your browser on your own device.
Does it make image prompts for Midjourney or Stable Diffusion?
This mode focuses on prompts for text-based chat assistants. For image generation prompts, AltFTool has a dedicated Image Prompt Generator and prompt library at /imgprompt, which is built around styles, subjects and settings for image models. Use that for pictures and this mode for text tasks.
Will a good prompt guarantee a correct answer?
No. A clear prompt makes useful answers more likely by giving the model context and a target format, but the model can still be wrong or make things up. Keep checking facts and figures in whatever the AI produces, especially for decisions that matter.
Which AI tools do the prompts work with?
The prompts are plain text, so they work with most chat assistants, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot and AltAI. Different models respond slightly differently, so you may need small tweaks. Tell it which tool you plan to use and it will adjust the wording.
Can it write system prompts for my own chatbot?
