Thunderball Number Generator

Thunderball is a UK National Lottery draw game with a fixed top prize rather than a rolling jackpot. A line is five main numbers from 1 to 39 plus one Thunderball from 1 to 14. This page fills a line in one click using unbiased cryptographic randomness, so every number in both pools has an equal chance of being chosen.

The smaller pools make Thunderball's top prize odds far shorter than those of the bigger lotteries, but a random line is still exactly as likely to win as any other. Use the generator for convenience, not as a way to win. Play only through official channels, follow the legal minimum age, and decide in advance how much you are willing to spend.

How Thunderball works

You pick five different main numbers from 1 to 39 and one Thunderball from 1 to 14. The Thunderball comes from a separate machine, so it can share a value with a main number. Matching all five main numbers and the Thunderball wins the top prize.

Thunderball has prizes for matching only the Thunderball, as well as other combinations. Ticket price, prize amounts and draw days are set by the operator, so check the official National Lottery site for current details.

Calculating the top prize odds

There are 575,757 ways to choose five numbers from 39. Multiply that by the 14 possible Thunderballs and you get 8,060,598 possible lines, so one line has a 1 in 8,060,598 chance of winning the top prize.

Every combination in that total is equally likely, whether it looks random or follows a neat pattern.

How the generator chooses

The tool uses the browser's crypto API and rejection sampling to pick five different numbers from 1 to 39 and one Thunderball from 1 to 14 with no bias. The main numbers are sorted for easy reading.

You can save lines or draw again as often as you like. Any summary figures shown with a line are informative only and do not change its chances.

Frequently asked questions

How many numbers do you pick in Thunderball?

Six in total: five different main numbers from 1 to 39 and one Thunderball from 1 to 14. The Thunderball is drawn from a separate pool, so it may match one of your main numbers.

What are the odds of winning the Thunderball top prize?

One line has a 1 in 8,060,598 chance. There are 575,757 ways to choose five numbers from 39 and 14 possible Thunderballs; multiplying them gives the total number of equally likely combinations. Smaller prizes have much shorter odds.

Does Thunderball have a rolling jackpot?

Thunderball is known for a fixed top prize rather than one that rolls over. Prize amounts are set by the operator and can change, so check the official National Lottery website for the current prize structure.

Are random Thunderball numbers more likely to win?

No. Random and hand-picked lines have identical chances. The generator is simply a quick, unbiased way to choose. Past results and number frequency charts cannot help either, because each draw is independent. Each new draw starts from exactly the same odds.

Is this generator run by the National Lottery?

No. It is an independent free tool with no connection to the National Lottery or its operator, and it cannot place bets. Use the official National Lottery website or retailers to play and to check results.

For entertainment and education. Random numbers cannot predict or improve the result of a draw, and numerology and astrology are traditions, not science. If you play a lottery, play only where it is legal for your age and location, and set a budget you can afford to lose. Free, confidential help: BeGambleAware (UK), 1-800-GAMBLER (US).
