In the United States the USAGov Benefit Finder is the official starting point for federal benefits, and each programme is then handled on its own .gov site: Federal Student Aid for college funding, the SBA for small business, HealthCare.gov and Medicare.gov for coverage, ssa.gov for Social Security and irs.gov for taxes. Many benefits are run by states, which use their own .gov domains.

Very few. Grants.gov lists federal grants that are mostly for organisations such as non-profits, schools and governments. Individual help usually comes as benefits, loans or student aid. Unsolicited offers of a 'free government grant' are a well-known scam.
Yes. The FAFSA is filed for free on studentaid.gov, the official Federal Student Aid site.
Each edition lists only official government portals for that country, grouped by what you need.
Every topic page compares the official portals across all eight countries.
