Official government schemes and services in Ireland

In Ireland gov.ie is the central government portal and MyWelfare is where social welfare payments are applied for online. Citizens Information, a state-funded service, explains entitlements in plain English. Student grants are handled by SUSI, small business support by the Local Enterprise Offices and Enterprise Ireland, tax by Revenue and health services by the HSE. Several of these bodies use their own .ie domains rather than gov.ie.

How to spot a fake government website in Ireland

  • Central government uses gov.ie, but official agencies such as Revenue (revenue.ie), the HSE (hse.ie) and SUSI (susi.ie) use their own .ie domains. Confirm a link against gov.ie or this list.
  • Revenue does not text you a link to claim a tax refund.
