How to spot a fake government website in India
- Official central government sites end in gov.in or nic.in. A scheme name in a .com, .org or .in address is not proof of anything.
- Never share an Aadhaar OTP, UPI PIN or bank OTP with a caller or on WhatsApp, whoever they say they are.
- Registration on myScheme, NSP, Udyam and e-Shram is free on the official portal. Look-alike sites charge for the same forms.
- Check scheme news on PIB (pib.gov.in) or the ministry's own site before believing a forwarded message.

Which is the official website to find government schemes in India?
myScheme (myscheme.gov.in) is the Government of India's national platform for discovering central and state schemes. It asks a few questions and shows schemes you may be eligible for, with links to apply on each scheme's official portal.
Is registration on the National Scholarship Portal free?
Applying on the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in) does not require paying a fee to a third party. If a site or agent asks for money to submit an NSP application, treat it as a warning sign and use the official portal directly.
How do I know if an Indian government website is real?
Check the domain, not the logo. Central government sites end in gov.in or nic.in, for example myscheme.gov.in or pmkisan.gov.in. Paste any link into the AltF official website checker to see whether it matches a government domain.
