Exam countdown timer

The exam countdown shows how many days are left until each of your exams, ordered by date, with the next one highlighted. Add exam dates once and the counter updates every day you open the page, and the same dates feed the study planner so your timetable and countdown never disagree.

Worked example: from 1 November to a 15 December exam

  1. 1Days left in November after the 1st: 30 − 1 = 29. Days in December up to the 15th: 15.
  2. 2Days until the exam: 29 + 15 = 44, which is 6 weeks and 2 days.
  3. 3Keeping 14 December as the revision day leaves 43 study days (1 November to 13 December).
  4. 4At 2 hours a day that is 43 × 2 = 86 hours of study before revision.

44 days to go, with 43 study days and a revision day before the exam.

Why use an exam countdown?

Weeks feel long until they suddenly are not. Seeing a concrete number of days, especially across several exams, makes it easier to decide what to do today instead of someday. The countdown also shows the order of your exams at a glance, which matters when a later exam needs more preparation than an earlier one. Because the same dates drive the study planner, the two stay in step.

How do I count days until an exam?

Subtract today's date from the exam date in whole days. Do it across months by counting the days remaining in the current month, adding full months in between, and then the days into the exam month. The countdown does this automatically using your device's date, so it is correct as long as your device clock is. For example, from 1 November to 15 December is 29 days left in November plus 15 in December, or 44 days.

Turn the countdown into a plan

  • Open the study planner from the same tab to spread study across the days shown.
  • Subtract days you know you cannot study, such as travel or events.
  • Keep the day before each exam for revision rather than new material.
  • Use the exam day checklist the evening before.
  • Recheck dates against the official datesheet whenever it is revised.
  • Block out days you cannot study before generating the plan, so the hours shown are realistic.

Exam countdown: questions and answers

Does the countdown include the exam day itself?

No. It counts full days from today until the exam date, so an exam tomorrow shows 1 day left, and on the exam day it shows today. That matches how most people count days left to prepare. The study planner then keeps the last of those days for revision.

Can I add board exams and college exams together?

Yes. Add any exam with a name and date: board papers, semester exams, entrance tests or certification exams. They are all listed by date and stored only in your browser. The next exam is highlighted, and past exams can be removed when they are over.

Will the countdown work if I close the tab?

Yes. Your exams are saved in local storage on this device, so the countdown is up to date next time you open the page in the same browser. Clearing site data or using private browsing removes it, so export a backup if you rely on it.

Does it send reminders?

No. AltF Campus has no account or server, so it cannot send emails or push reminders. Pin the page or add the exam dates to your calendar app if you need alerts. Opening the page each day shows the updated count.
