YouTube earnings calculator (with your own RPM)

Enter your views and the RPM shown in your own YouTube Analytics, and the calculator multiplies them out, with an optional low and high RPM for a range. It also prices a sponsorship from a CPM and expected views, and works out engagement rate. It never fills in an average RPM, because real rates differ too much by country, niche and format.

RPM vs CPM

  • CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions, before YouTube's share.
  • RPM is what you earn per 1,000 views after YouTube's share, across all revenue sources.
  • RPM is the number to use for your own earnings; find it in YouTube Studio under Analytics, Revenue.

Pricing a sponsorship

A common way to price an integration is a CPM on the views the video is expected to get in its first 30 days, using your recent average rather than your best video. Adjust for how well your audience matches the brand, the length of the mention and usage rights.

YouTube earnings calculator (with your own RPM): questions and answers

Why doesn't the calculator suggest an RPM?

Because any single number would be wrong for most channels. Use your own RPM from YouTube Analytics, or a range if you are not yet monetised.

How is engagement rate calculated?

Likes, comments, shares and saves added together, divided by followers or reach, times 100. Say which base you used when you share it.
