Hashtag limits by platform
- YouTube: more than 60 hashtags and YouTube ignores all of them. The first three show above the title.
- Instagram: up to 30 per post or Reel. A handful of specific tags is the common advice.
- TikTok: no separate cap; hashtags count toward the 4,000-character caption.
- X: hashtags count toward the 280-character post on a standard account.
- LinkedIn: no published cap; three to five specific tags read best.
Picking better hashtags
Mix one or two broad tags with several specific ones that describe exactly what the video is about. A tag nobody searches does nothing, and a tag with millions of posts buries you; the specific middle is where a new creator gets found.

Hashtag cleaner and counter: questions and answers
Does the cleaner keep non-English hashtags?
Yes. Letters and marks from any script are kept, so Hindi, Arabic or Japanese tags work.
Why was a tag like #2026 removed?
A tag made only of digits is not a usable hashtag on most platforms, so it is dropped. Add a word to it, like #Goa2026.
