You need an identity number (Aadhaar preferred), Class 10 certificate details for name and date of birth, Class 12 board and roll number, a recent passport-style photograph and signature scan in JPG, and PDFs of any claim certificate — OBC non-creamy-layer, EWS, SC/ST or PwD. The photo and signature size bands are printed in each year's information bulletin.
For exam centres in India in recent sessions, per paper: Rs 1,000 for General male, Rs 900 for General-EWS and OBC-NCL male, Rs 800 for female candidates of those categories, and Rs 500 for SC, ST, PwD and third-gender candidates. Registering for a second paper or a centre outside India costs more, as scheduled in the bulletin.
The certificate must be issued for the financial year named in that session's bulletin — in practice, issued on or after 1 April of the application year. An older certificate is the most common reason an OBC-NCL or EWS claim is converted to General during JoSAA/CSAB document verification.
Recent bulletins let you rank up to 4 exam cities, and NTA allots a centre from those choices subject to capacity. Candidates choosing a regional question-paper medium are generally limited to centres in the states where that language is offered.
