This checklist covers both halves of a counselling reporting day: the originals the institute will keep, and the money that has to be in the account before the window shuts. It separates what you pay from what comes back — a JoSAA seat acceptance fee, notified in recent cycles at ₹35,000 for OPEN, OBC-NCL and EWS candidates and ₹17,500 for SC, ST and PwD candidates, is adjusted against the institute's own fee later, while an MCC security deposit is refundable but forfeited outright if you are allotted a seat and do not report. It also counts the days left in your reporting window.

Recent cycles notified ₹35,000 for OPEN, OPEN-PwD, OBC-NCL, OBC-NCL-PwD, EWS and EWS-PwD candidates and ₹17,500 for SC, ST, SC-PwD and ST-PwD candidates. It is adjusted against the institute's own fee when you take admission; on withdrawal a processing charge is deducted under the business rules for that cycle. Confirm the amount in the current bulletin before transferring anything.
Yes, but conditionally. The registration fee is never refunded. The security deposit is refunded at the end of the process — except where a candidate is allotted a seat and then fails to report, in which case it is forfeited. That is why the ₹2,00,000 deposit on the deemed and central university stream matters so much more than the ₹10,000 on all-India-quota government seats.
Typically the provisional allotment letter, the Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets and certificates, the category certificate, the medical fitness certificate in the institute's own format, and several passport photographs. Originals are retained until the admission process closes, so keep your own photocopies of every page before you hand anything over.
The seat is released to the next candidate and, where a security deposit was paid against an allotment, it is liable to be forfeited. Reporting windows are commonly only three to seven days from the allotment, which is not enough time to obtain a migration certificate or a domicile certificate from scratch — those have to be applied for before the allotment, not after.
