• Network SettingsSettings → General → Network settings is where you switch between wired and wireless, run a full connection test (download/upload speed and packet loss), and check your NAT type — the setting most responsible for matchmaking failures, party chat drops, and "can't join session" errors.

• Audio Output SettingsXbox routes audio differently depending on whether it's going to a TV's built-in speakers, a soundbar or AV receiver over HDMI/optical, or a headset plugged into the controller — and picking the wrong format is the single most common cause of "no sound" or distorted audio after setting up a new console or display.

• Account Sign-In & Xbox LiveEvery Xbox profile is tied to a Microsoft account, and staying signed in to that account is what unlocks Xbox Live features — multiplayer, cloud saves, achievements, and access to purchased games and Game Pass. Multiple people can add their own accounts to the same console without losing their individual saves, settings, or friends lists.

• Pair & Update a ControllerXbox Wireless Controllers pair directly to the console over Xbox Wireless (not Bluetooth, unless you're connecting to a PC or mobile device) and can also receive their own firmware updates independent of the console's system software.

• Remote PlayXbox Remote Play streams gameplay from games already installed on your console to the Xbox app on Windows, iOS, or Android over the internet — distinct from cloud gaming (xCloud), which streams from Microsoft's servers and requires a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Remote Play just needs your console powered on (or in standby) and reachable over the network.
