About the safety check

Can this check tell me for sure if someone is a scammer?

No tool can. The check counts well-known warning signs from romance-scam and catfishing cases. A high score means slow down and verify; a low score means keep normal precautions, not that someone is guaranteed safe.

Is anything I answer saved or sent?

No. Your answers stay in your browser and are cleared when you reset or close the page. There is no account and nothing is uploaded.

What should I do if the result says high risk?

Stop sending money or personal details, do not share verification codes or intimate images, save the chat, and report the profile on the app. If you have already paid, contact your bank straight away and report it (cybercrime.gov.in or 1930 in India, ReportFraud.ftc.gov in the US).

How do I check if a dating profile is real?

Ask for a short live video call, run their photos through a reverse image search such as Google Lens or TinEye, and check that their name, job and location stay consistent over time.

Learn the warning signs

  • Dating red flags to watch for

A red flag is behaviour that suggests someone may be dishonest, unsafe or controlling: rushing intimacy, dodging video calls, asking for money, pushing you off the app, pressuring you, or stories that keep changing.

Reverse-search their photos, ask for a short live video call, check their story stays consistent, and look for an app verification badge. No single check is proof, but together they catch most fake profiles.

  • Online dating and romance scams

Romance scammers build a fast emotional bond, avoid meeting or video calls, then ask for money, gifts, crypto, codes or intimate images. Anyone you have not met in person who asks for money is very likely a scammer.
