About this tool
Generate a refund and cancellation policy for an online store, digital products, events, memberships or a restaurant, ready to paste on your site.
A clear refund policy builds trust and cuts disputes. Pick your business type, set your windows and conditions, and copy a policy written for it. This page brings together 5 separate refund policy generator pages (Digital product, Ecommerce, Event, Membership, Restaurant) so you can compare them without hunting for the right one.
Open Refund Policy Generator on AltFTool — it loads instantly in your browser.
Choose your business type at the top: Digital product, Ecommerce, Event, Membership and 1 more. On a phone it is a drop-down list.
Fill in the refund policy generator for that business type; each of the 5 options keeps its own rules, data and defaults.
Read the result, then switch business type to compare. The page link keeps your business type (?v=digital-product), so you can bookmark or share it.
Digital product, Ecommerce, Event and the rest sit behind one picker, so switching business type takes a tap instead of a new search.
Every business type keeps its own rules, numbers and defaults rather than one generic template.
The link remembers the business type you picked, so a bookmark or a shared link opens straight on it.
5: Digital product, Ecommerce, Event, Membership, Restaurant. Pick one at the top of the tool; the page link updates (for example ?v=digital-product) so you can bookmark or share that exact view.
Only up to a point. In the EU and UK you can disapply the 14-day cancellation right for digital content, but only if the buyer expressly consented to immediate delivery and acknowledged losing that right at checkout. Even then you must still refund content that is faulty, undeliverable or not as described.
It depends on the market. In the EU and the UK a consumer has a statutory 14 days from delivery to cancel a distance sale, and the refund is due within 14 days. India's Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020 set no fixed change-of-mind window but bar a seller from refusing a refund on defective, deficient, late or misdescribed goods, and there is no federal return-window requirement in the United States.
A common ladder refunds 100% at 30 or more days before the event, 75% at 15 to 29 days, 50% at 7 to 14 days, 25% at 3 to 6 days and nothing inside 3 days, because the organiser's committed costs rise as the date approaches. There is no statutory ladder in India, so the test is whether the term is reasonable rather than one-sided.
Multiply the plan fee by the unused days and divide by the total days in the term. On a Rs 36,500 annual plan running 1 January to 31 December, a cancellation on 1 July leaves 184 unused days of 365, so the pro-rata refund is Rs 18,400 before any cancellation charge.
Delivering something other than what was ordered is a deficiency in service under Section 2(11) of the Consumer Protection Act 2019, and refusing to refund a defective item within the stated period can be an unfair trade practice under Section 2(47). A restaurant is free to set the reporting window and the remedy, but it cannot set terms that take away the consumer's statutory rights.
