How much negative marking is there in IBPS and SBI exams?

One-fourth of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for each wrong answer in the objective tests. On a one-mark question that is 0.25 marks. Questions left unanswered carry no penalty, and the descriptive paper is not subject to the deduction.

Is there negative marking in JEE Main numerical questions?

Yes. Since JEE Main 2023, Section B numerical-value questions carry -1 for a wrong answer, the same as Section A. Before that the section was penalty-free, which is why older strategy advice about attempting every numerical question no longer holds.

How much is deducted for a wrong answer in NEET?

One mark is deducted for every incorrect response, while a correct response earns 4 marks. A question left blank neither earns nor costs anything, so the swing between a correct and an incorrect answer is 5 marks.

How much is the negative marking in SSC CGL?

Tier-I deducts 0.50 mark for each wrong answer against 2 marks for a correct one (100 questions, 200 marks). Tier-II Paper-I deducts 1 mark against 3 for a correct answer. Both are a fraction of the question's marks — one-fourth and one-third respectively.

How much is deducted for a wrong answer in UPSC prelims?

One-third of the marks assigned to that question. In GS Paper I each question is worth 2 marks, so a wrong answer costs 0.67 marks; in CSAT each question is worth 2.5 marks, so it costs 0.83. Marking more than one option counts as wrong and carries the same penalty.
