About this tool
Phase-wise checklist for medical exam, police verification, attestation forms and day-one joining paperwork.
The Joining Formalities Checklist tracks the formalities between an appointment letter and the first day on a government job — pre-joining medical examination, police/character verification via the attestation form, bond and paperwork, current-employer exit and the day-one document kit. Each item carries a typical lead time, so anything that takes longer than the days remaining to your joining date is flagged to start immediately. Police verification and notice periods, the two slowest items, get the visibility they deserve.
Open Joining Formalities Checklist on AltFTool — it loads instantly in your browser.
Enter your joining / reporting date so the checklist can count the days you have left.
Tick items across the five phases — Medical examination, Police / character verification, Attestation & paperwork, Current employer exit and Day-one kit — and untick "Applies to me" on conditional rows such as the bond or NOC that do not apply.
Read the Completion percentage, formalities done and per-phase counts, plus each red "Start today" alert naming an item whose typical lead time exceeds your remaining days, then press Copy status.
Items whose typical duration exceeds your remaining days are flagged 'start today'.
Medical, verification, paperwork, exit and day-one tracked separately.
Bond, NOC and employer-exit rows only count when they apply to you.
The standard set is: a medical fitness examination at a designated hospital, an attestation form that triggers police/character verification, re-verification of original certificates, service bond or agreement where prescribed, photographs and bank details for the service book, plus a signed joining report on day one. Candidates already employed also need a resignation served per notice period and a relieving letter or NOC.
It routinely runs several weeks — this checklist uses 30 days as the planning default — because the form travels from the department to your district police and back. Most departments let you join provisionally while verification is in progress, but submit the attestation form the day you receive it.
Usually yes — appointments are commonly made provisional, subject to the verification report arriving clean. An adverse or falsified entry (especially a concealed criminal case) can lead to termination afterwards, so fill the attestation form truthfully rather than optimistically.
Count your full contractual notice period backwards from the reporting date and add buffer for the relieving letter to be issued — a 60-day notice against a joining date 45 days away is already a problem. If the dates cannot work, many appointing authorities grant a short extension of joining time when requested in writing before the original date.
