Emulsion is washable, holds colour longer and typically lasts 5 to 7 years on interior walls, against 2 to 3 years for oil-bound distemper, but costs roughly twice as much per litre. Over a horizon longer than about five to seven years the extra durability usually more than repays the premium; below that, distemper is genuinely cheaper.
For interior walls it typically lands between about 18 and 35 rupees per square foot all-in, with labour usually the largest single component at roughly 12 to 25 rupees per square foot and paint adding 5 to 15 depending on the tier. Enter your own quoted rates, because city, scope and whether putty is included move the number more than the paint brand does.
Water absorption is the real difference: vitrified tiles absorb under 0.5% (group BIa in IS 15622 and ISO 13006) because the body itself is fired to a glassy state, while ceramic tiles absorb roughly 3% to 10% and rely on a glaze for their surface. That makes vitrified tiles denser, harder wearing and far less prone to staining if the surface chips.
