Sign in with a Samsung Account for full Smart Hub features
A Samsung Account unlocks app downloads from the Samsung Apps store, Samsung Rewards, cloud game streaming services, and lets support staff run remote diagnostics with your permission.
What you should know
- Go to Settings > General > System Manager > Samsung Account (labeled Accounts on some models) to sign in or create a new account.
- Sign in with an existing Samsung Account email, or use Google or Apple sign-in where offered.
- Once signed in, Smart Hub personalizes app recommendations and syncs purchased or downloaded apps.
- Use the same Samsung Account menu to sign out or switch accounts if the TV is shared or being reset for a new owner.
Why it matters
Several Smart Hub apps and services, including some game streaming apps and Samsung's own content recommendations, require being signed in to work at all — skipping this step is a common reason a newly set-up TV feels limited.
Best practices
- Use the same Samsung Account across a Samsung phone, TV, and other Samsung devices to keep settings and services in sync.
- Enable two-factor authentication on the Samsung Account itself (via account.samsung.com) since it can be used to authorize remote support access.
Common problems and fixes
- Can't sign in — "account not found" error
- Confirm the TV's date, time, and network connection are correct, since an incorrect clock can break the secure sign-in handshake.
- Signing in doesn't restore previously downloaded apps
- Apps are tied to the app store version for that TV model and region — some apps may need to be re-downloaded manually from the Apps section of Smart Hub.
Tips and tricks
- Support staff can only access remote diagnostics with an active Samsung Account sign-in and your explicit consent during a support call, not automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Is a Samsung Account required to just watch cable or streaming apps?
No — many built-in apps and a wired/antenna TV signal work without signing in, but some app downloads and personalized features require it.
