Choose and fine-tune the right Picture Mode
Picture Mode controls the overall brightness, color, and processing style of the image, from the punchy Dynamic preset for bright rooms to the accurate Filmmaker Mode intended to match a director's original intent.
What you should know
- Go to Settings > Picture > Picture Mode and choose from Standard, Dynamic, Natural, Movie, or Filmmaker Mode.
- Open Expert Settings under Picture to adjust Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Color, and Backlight individually.
- Enable Intelligent Mode under Picture > Expert Settings so the TV can adapt brightness to room lighting and content type.
- Set Picture Mode separately per input — a game console or soundbar's HDMI input can use a different mode than the TV's built-in apps.
Why it matters
The out-of-the-box Dynamic mode is calibrated for bright retail showrooms, not most living rooms, which can leave colors oversaturated and shadow detail crushed. Choosing the right mode per source noticeably improves accuracy for movies, sports, and gaming without buying anything extra.
Best practices
- Use Filmmaker Mode or Movie for film and prestige TV to preserve the original color grading and disable extra motion smoothing.
- Keep Dynamic reserved for very bright rooms where contrast would otherwise wash out.
- Turn off Auto Motion Plus or set it to Custom with Blur and Judder reduction lowered if you notice a soap-opera-like smoothing effect.
Common problems and fixes
- Picture looks too dark in a bright room
- Enable Intelligent Mode or manually raise Backlight under Picture > Expert Settings for that input.
- Movement looks unnaturally smooth or artificial
- Go to Picture > Expert Settings > Auto Motion Plus and switch it to Custom, then lower or disable Judder and Blur reduction.
Tips and tricks
- Filmmaker Mode automatically disables motion smoothing and locks the frame rate to match the source, so it's a fast way to get an accurate picture without manual tuning.
Frequently asked questions
Does Picture Mode reset when I switch inputs?
No — each HDMI or app source remembers its own Picture Mode and Expert Settings independently.

- Sound Output & Bluetooth AudioThe TV's Sound Output setting decides whether audio plays through the built-in speakers, an HDMI-ARC/optical soundbar, or a paired Bluetooth speaker or headphones — including pairing two Bluetooth devices at once on supported models.
- Ambient ModeAmbient Mode shows artwork, photos, the current time, or informational widgets like weather and news when you're not actively watching content, so the screen blends into a room instead of showing a plain black display.
