How to make a funny tombstone

  1. Name the dearly departed

    Type a top line like R.I.P. or Here lies, then the name of what you are saying goodbye to, such as My Diet or The Group Project.

  2. Add years and an epitaph

    Write a years line — real dates or jokes like Mon 9:00 – Mon 9:05 — and a short epitaph. Long text gets smaller and stays on the stone.

  3. Carve the stone

    Pick a rounded, classic, gothic arch or square slab headstone, a grey granite, mossy, dark slate or sandstone finish and a lettering style.

What happens if my epitaph is long?

The text wraps and is limited to four lines so it always stays inside the carved face of the stone. Shorter epitaphs print larger and read better.
