How to make a fortune cookie
Write the fortune
Type your own message for the paper slip, or press Surprise me for a ready-made positive, funny fortune. One or two short sentences fit best.
Add the extras
Fill in lucky numbers and a bonus line such as a word of the day. Rename the bonus label to anything you like, or clear it to hide it.
Choose the look
Pick a print style, slip colour, ink and cookie — golden, extra toasty or dipped — plus a background, sparkles and crumbs.
Crack it and download
Press Crack it to split the cookie and slide the fortune out, then download a PNG or JPG, copy the image or share a link.

- Party favours and table cards for dinner parties
- New Year and Lunar New Year greetings for friends
Tips for a better result
- Short fortunes print largest — aim for under 80 characters.
- Make it personal: a fortune that names an inside joke lands better than a generic one.
- Clear the lucky numbers and bonus line for a clean, minimal slip.
FAQ
Fortune Cookie questions
Is the fortune cookie generator free?
Yes. You can write and download as many fortunes as you like for free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Where do the Surprise me fortunes come from?
We wrote them ourselves. They are light, positive and a little silly, so they are safe to send to friends, family and colleagues.
Can I change the word of the day line?
Yes. Edit the bonus label and text to show anything — a word of the day, a lucky colour, a tiny joke — or clear both to hide the line.
What does Crack it do?
It plays a short animation: the cookie wobbles, splits in two and the paper slip slides out. The downloaded picture shows the opened cookie.
Can I print fortunes for real cookies?
This tool makes a picture of a cookie and slip. For real cookies, print the PNG small and trim the slip area, or use it as a party table card.
