How to make a talking cat

  1. Write the line

    Type what the cat should say. Short lines land best, but the bubble fits up to 160 characters.

  2. Pick your cat

    Choose a breed, a fur colour and a mood — happy, surprised, cool, grumpy or sleepy.

  3. Tune the TV

    Pick a TV set, name the channel for the news banner and switch the ON AIR light and retro scanlines on or off.

  4. Make it talk and save

    Press Make it talk to hear the line, then download a PNG or JPG, copy the image or share a link to your cat.

Is the talking cat generator free?

Yes. It is free to use with no sign-up. You can download as many pictures as you like as PNG or JPG, with no watermark.

How does the cat talk?

Pressing Make it talk uses your browser's built-in speech voice at a high pitch, and the cat's mouth moves while it speaks. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.

Why can't I hear the cat?

Check your device volume and silent switch. A few browsers have no speech voices installed; in that case the cat still moves its mouth so the animation works.

Can I download the talking cat as a video?

Not at the moment. You can download a still picture as PNG or JPG, copy it, or share a link that opens your cat so the other person can press Make it talk too.

Can I change the cat's colour and breed?

Yes. Choose from Tabby, Siamese, Tuxedo, Maine Coon, Persian and Calico, and five fur colours from Snow white to Midnight black.
