About this tool
Generate unique, creative names instantly for your furry, feathery, or fuzzy friends.
Pet Name Generator builds a batch of 15 unduplicated name ideas at a time by combining a base name for your animal — dog, cat, rabbit, parrot or hamster — with a style prefix drawn from one of six moods: Cute, Royal, Funny, Cool, Unique or Traditional. An optional keyword field lets you seed every result with a syllable of your own, so a favourite word can run through the whole batch. Each name can be copied with one tap or starred into a shortlist, which is what you want when a household is arguing over five candidates.
Open Pet Name Generator on AltFTool — it loads instantly in your browser.
Choose a Pet Type — dog, cat, rabbit, parrot or hamster — and a Style from Cute, Royal, Funny, Cool, Unique or Traditional.
Add an optional Custom Prefix (the field suggests "e.g. Mr, Baby") and press Start Generating.
Copy any of the 15 de-duplicated results with its copy button, or hit the heart to send it to Your Favorites.
Each batch is de-duplicated before it is shown, so you get fifteen different ideas rather than the same name repeated with a new prefix.
Royal prepends titles like Sir, Lady or Duke, Cool leans on Shadow, Blaze and Storm, and Funny hands out Captain and Professor — pick the register first and the results follow it.
Tap the heart on any result to keep it in a favourites strip while you regenerate, so promising names survive the next batch instead of vanishing.
Fifteen, all different from each other. Press generate again for a fresh set — because the base name, the prefix and whether a prefix is applied at all are picked at random each time, repeat runs on the same settings give you new combinations.
It puts your text on the front of every base name in the batch, so a keyword of 'Mo' turns Buddy into MoBuddy and Luna into MoLuna. Use it to work a family name, a colour or a favourite word into all fifteen suggestions at once.
Short ones. One or two syllables that end in a clear vowel sound are easiest for an animal to pick out, which is why so many classic names — Max, Coco, Milo, Nala — follow that shape. It also helps if the name does not rhyme with a command like 'no' or 'sit'.
Five species, each with its own base name pool: dogs, cats, rabbits, parrots and hamsters. The pools differ, so switching from dog to rabbit changes the underlying names and not just the prefix style.
