This calculator applies customary Spanish tipping ranges — roughly 5% after a sit-down dinner, the loose change after a menú del día or a coffee, €1 a bag for a porter — so visitors stop over-tipping out of habit. Spanish propina is small and genuinely optional because menu prices include IVA and service and hospitality staff are salaried under the hostelería collective agreement. It also separates the two lines that confuse visitors: a 'cubierto' charge is for bread and covers, and the higher terraza price is a price difference, not a service charge.

It is a bread and cover charge that goes to the restaurant, not a tip for the waiter. It typically appears as a small per-person line and legally has to be disclosed on the menu. It does not replace a propina, and it does not mean service has been included as a gratuity.
Round the meter up to the next euro, and nothing more. Madrid and Barcelona airport journeys run on a fixed flat tariff, so there is no meter to round and no tip is expected. Drivers do not react to exact change.
Around €10 per person for a two to three hour walk, and €5 at the low end. These tours are not really free: the guide is paid only from tips and usually owes the operating company a fee for every person who joins, so the tip functions as the ticket price rather than a bonus.
