Valentine's photo love game for couples and parties

Updated 4 min read

Looking for a Valentine's game that works on any phone, needs no app and takes ten minutes to set up? The photo love test turns selfies into playful match scores. It is free, just for fun, and every photo is analysed in the browser, so nothing is uploaded.

This guide gives you a ready-to-run plan for a date night for two or a party with friends. It includes rounds, prizes, how to share results and a few simple rules so everyone has a good time.

How to use it

  1. 1

Open the photo love test on one phone or laptop and choose One photo together for couple rounds.

  2. 2

Each couple takes a selfie with the Selfie or Camera button and taps their face thumbnails to set names.

  3. 3

Write each couple's love match score on a paper score sheet, or keep the Story 9:16 share image.

  4. 4

Finish with Group ranking: one group photo with up to 8 faces, then press Rank our group.

  5. 5

Hand out prizes for Best match, Mood twins and Look-alikes, and share result links with names and scores only.

Before you start: the consent rule

Only use photos of people who agreed to play. That is the one rule that matters. Photos stay on the device and are never uploaded, but people still deserve to choose whether their face is part of a game.

  • Ask before you take or use anyone's photo.
  • Use Couple mode or Friends mode at parties. Keep Crush mode for private fun, and only with photos you are allowed to use.
  • Keep photos of children out of love and crush rounds.
  • Share images and result links show names and scores, not faces, unless someone chooses otherwise.
  • If anyone wants out, let them sit out with no fuss.

Date night version for two

Just the two of you? Run three short rounds with One photo together, all on one phone.

  • Round 1, first try: take a normal selfie and see your starting score.
  • Round 2, mood challenge: pick an expression and match it as closely as you can. Mood match is 40% of the blend.
  • Round 3, throwback: switch to Two photos and compare a photo from your first date with one from tonight.
  • Finish: make a Story 9:16 card of your best round, or keep it just for you.

Party version: rounds and running order

For a group, one host runs the tool on a phone or laptop. A laptop with the Camera button works well, because everyone can see the screen. Plan on about one minute per couple.

  • Warm up: every couple takes one selfie in One photo together. Write the scores on a paper sheet.
  • Mood round: the host calls out an expression, like surprised, and couples try to match it.
  • Mystery pairs: in Friends mode, pair up people who are not a couple and see who scores highest.
  • Finale: one group photo of everyone, then Rank our group. Group ranking uses up to 8 faces, so split big parties into tables.

Prizes and categories

Scores always land between 55 and 100, so nobody loses badly. That makes it easy to hand out prizes without hurt feelings. The Group ranking highlights give you ready-made categories:

  • Best match: the pair with the highest overall score.
  • Mood twins: the pair with the most matching expressions.
  • Look-alikes: the pair the face model sees as most alike.
  • Biggest comeback: the couple whose score rose most between rounds.
  • Opposites Attract award: the couple whose result got that match type.

Sharing the fun

Every result can be made into a share image on the device. Pick Post 4:5 for a feed, Story 9:16 for stories, or Square 1:1 for chats. The Group ranking top-3 image shows names and scores only.

Copy result link gives a link that holds names and scores, never photos. Guests who open it see a shared result card and can press Try it with your photos to play their own round. That makes it easy to keep the game going in the group chat after the party.

Keep it light

The score compares photos: expressions, five face ratios and a face model's view of resemblance. It does not measure love, and it does not predict anything about a couple. A 61 and a 97 are equally good excuses to laugh.

If a guest asks how it works, the how it works guide has the full formula. For better selfies at the party, the couple selfie test page has framing tips, and the group photo face match page explains Group ranking in detail.

Frequently asked questions

Do guests need to install an app for the Valentine's game?

No. The game runs in any modern browser on a phone or laptop. The face models load once from altftool.com, about 7 MB.

How many people can play the party version?

Any number for couple rounds, one selfie at a time. The Group ranking finale scores up to 8 faces per photo, so split big groups into tables.

Are party photos stored or uploaded anywhere?

No. Every photo is analysed on the device running the game. Share images and result links carry names and scores, not faces.

Can the low score couple feel bad?

Scores always land between 55 and 100, and every band has a friendly label. Remind guests that it compares photos, not relationships.

What is a good prize category for the party?

Use the Group ranking highlights: Best match, Mood twins and Look-alikes. Biggest comeback between rounds is a fun extra.

Is it okay to use photos of guests who are not there?

Only with their permission. The simple rule is to use photos of people who agreed to play.
