Fun ways to use the couple test
The test works best as a little game you play together, not something you check alone. A few ideas that couples enjoy:
Whatever you do, keep it light. The score compares two photos, and that is all it does.
- Anniversary post: run your first photo together and your newest one, then share both results side by side.
- Date night game: each of you picks a photo of the other in secret, then reveal the scores at dinner.
- Then and now: compare holiday photos from different years and see which trip had the most matching moods.
- Mood challenge: take two selfies at once while trying to pull the exact same face, and see if you can push mood match to the top.
- Wedding or engagement: add it to a guest book corner, with a sign saying it is just for fun.
Photo tips for a clean result
The face models need to see each face clearly. A few small choices make a big difference to how stable the result is.
There is a longer guide to the best photos for face matching if you want the details on angle and lighting.
- Face the camera. A head turned to one side changes the face proportions the tool measures.
- Use soft, even light. Window light from the front is ideal. Strong shadows can confuse the landmarks.
- Skip sunglasses, masks and heavy beauty filters.
- Use one face per photo, or use the face picker on a group or couple shot.
- Choose photos where you have similar expressions if you want a higher mood match.
How to read your love match
The big number is your love match, from 55 to 100. It is a blend of three smaller numbers that you can see underneath. Mood match counts the most, at 40%. It shows how alike your expressions were in these two photos. Proportion match counts 35% and compares five face ratios, like eye spacing and face shape. Face resemblance counts 25% and comes from a face recognition model.
Because mood counts so much, two big smiles will usually score well. That is a feature, not a bug. It means the game rewards photos where you are both having a good time.
The label above the score is a friendly band. 90 and up is Off the charts. 80 to 89 is Big match energy. 70 to 79 is Sweet match. 55 to 69 is A spark to build on. No band is a bad result.
The four couple match types
Every result also gets a match type. It is based on two simple questions: do the faces look alike to the model, and do the moods match?
- Mirror Match: your faces share a lot, and so does the mood in these photos. The classic look-alike couple.
- Same Wavelength: different faces, same energy. You showed up in the same mood.
- Look-alikes, Different Moods: your faces have plenty in common, but the expressions tell two stories. Try again with two smiles.
- Opposites Attract: different faces and different moods. Plenty to talk about.
Sharing your result
When you get a result you like, you can copy a short text version or make a share card image. The card is drawn in your browser. Photos are off by default, so you can share the score without sharing your faces. If you both agree, you can turn photos on.
Recent results are saved on this device only, without photos, so you can compare rounds later. Use clear all when you are done. If you want to compare as friends instead, try the friendship photo test, or try the crush version for a lighter game.
