No. A free 30-day tourist visa is granted on arrival to holders of every nationality, with no application beforehand. What you do need is the IMUGA Traveller Declaration, submitted online within 96 hours before arrival and again within 96 hours before departure, plus a return ticket and either a confirmed booking or evidence of funds.
One month beyond the date of arrival, which is unusually short. Airlines and transit countries often apply their own six-month rule, so check every leg of the routing rather than only the destination requirement — a passport that satisfies Maldives Immigration can still get you turned away at check-in.
It is a per-night environmental tax charged to tourists on the accommodation bill. From 1 January 2025 it is USD 12 per person per night at resorts, integrated tourist resorts, tourist hotels and safari vessels, and USD 6 per person per night at guesthouses and hotels on inhabited islands. Children under two are exempt.
Where you have no confirmed booking at a registered tourist facility, immigration applies a test of USD 100 plus USD 50 for each day of your intended stay — so a ten-day trip means USD 600. A confirmed booking normally removes the question altogether, which is why booking at least the first nights is the simplest fix.
