A slant guide is a sheet of evenly spaced parallel lines set at one fixed angle that you slip under your writing paper so every downstroke leans the same way. This generator draws that sheet to millimetre accuracy on A4 or US Letter, combining the slant lines with baseline, waist and ascender ruling, and reports the sideways travel a stroke makes over one x-height. Presets follow the angles quoted in penmanship manuals — 55° from the baseline for Copperplate, 52° for Spencerian, about 85° for chancery italic and 90° for upright print.

Baseline, waist, ascender and descender lines are drawn with the slant lines so proportion and slope are trained together.
Line spacing, x-height and margins print at the exact sizes you enter when the print dialog is set to 100%.
Copperplate uses 55° from the baseline and Spencerian 52°, while modern school cursive is usually taught around 65-75° and italic only about 5-10° off vertical. Consistency matters far more than the exact figure — a steady 70° reads better than letters wandering between 60° and 90°.
Print it, place it under a sheet of reasonably thin writing paper so the lines show through, and write so each downstroke runs parallel to the nearest guide line. Once the slope feels automatic, move to unlined paper and check your work back against the guide.
The usual causes are paper position rather than the hand: the sheet should be tilted so the writing line runs roughly perpendicular to your forearm, which for a right-hander means rotating the page anticlockwise. Gripping too close to the nib and moving only the fingers instead of the whole arm also makes the slant drift across a line.
They add up to 90°. A 55° Copperplate slant measured from the baseline is the same as 35° off vertical, which is how some nib and guideline charts label it — this tool shows both figures so you can match either source.
