About this tool
Interactive grammar quizzes covering tenses, articles, prepositions, and more with instant feedback and analytics.
This Grammar Quiz serves timed multiple-choice English grammar questions — up to 10 per round, 30 seconds each — drawn from a bank covering 13 topics from tenses and articles to error detection and reported speech. Every question carries an optional hint before you answer and a rule-based explanation after it, so a wrong pick tells you which grammar rule you missed rather than just marking you down. It is built for learners revising for a school exam or a competitive English paper who want short, repeatable practice with a record of their scores.
Open Grammar Quiz on AltFTool — it loads instantly in your browser.
Under Select Topic choose All Topics or one of the thirteen — Tenses, Articles, Prepositions, Punctuation, Error Detection and the rest — and set Difficulty to All, easy, medium or hard; the bar shows how many questions are available.
Press Start Quiz and answer inside the 30-second timer bar; Show hint reveals a clue before you commit, and choosing an option reveals the correct answer with the grammar rule behind it.
After up to 10 questions the results screen gives your percentage with Correct, Wrong and Avg Time pills and a Topic Performance breakdown; Try Again reruns the same filters and Change Topic returns to the selector.
Pick any of the 13 grammar topics and an easy, medium or hard level, and the round is drawn only from questions matching both.
Each question ships with a written explanation of the grammar principle behind the correct option, plus a hint you can reveal before committing.
Quizzes taken, total correct answers, best percentage and perfect scores are stored on your own device and carry over between sessions.
30 seconds. The countdown ring runs per question, and if it reaches zero the question is marked as timed out and the quiz moves on. The clock resets fully on the next question.
Up to 10, chosen at random from the questions that match your topic and difficulty filters. If a narrow filter leaves fewer than 10 available — for example hard punctuation questions only — the round is shorter and uses everything in that pool.
Thirteen: tenses, articles, prepositions, conjunctions, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, active and passive voice, direct and indirect speech, subject-verb agreement, punctuation, sentence correction and error detection. You can also select All Topics for a mixed round.
Yes. Total quizzes, total correct answers, your best percentage and your count of perfect scores are written to your browser's local storage, so they are still there when you return. They stay on that device and browser only — there is no account, and clearing site data resets them.
