About this tool
Test your knowledge of world capital cities with timed quizzes, scoring, and streak tracking across 195+ countries.
This capital city quiz asks you to name the capital of a randomly drawn country from a list of nearly 200, choosing from four options against a per-question countdown, with a streak bonus that doubles your points once you are three correct answers deep. Four difficulty settings change both the length and the pressure: Easy is 10 questions at 30 seconds each with hints, Medium 20 at 20 seconds, Hard 30 at 12 seconds and Expert 50 at 8 seconds. At the end you get a graded report with every question reviewed, which you can copy or download as a text file.

Pick a difficulty under Select Difficulty: Easy is 10 questions at 30 seconds each, Expert is 50 at 8 seconds with no hint.
Answer each country's capital from the four options before the timer hits zero — after two correct in a row, each further correct answer scores 2 points instead of 1.
At Quiz Complete, read the Answer Review and Best Streak, then use Copy or Download to save the graded report as Capital_Quiz_Expert.txt.
Running out of time counts as a wrong answer, so Expert's eight seconds per question tests recall rather than reasoning your way to it.
The end-of-quiz review lists every country with the correct capital next to it, so you leave knowing which ones to relearn.
The result sheet includes your score, percentage, letter grade, best streak and the full breakdown, and copies to the clipboard or downloads as a .txt.
Once you already have a run of two correct answers, every further correct answer is worth 2 points instead of 1. So the third, fourth and fifth answers in a streak each double up, and a single wrong answer or timeout resets the streak to zero.
Easy is 10 questions with 30 seconds each and a hint available; Medium is 20 questions at 20 seconds; Hard is 30 questions at 12 seconds; and Expert is 50 questions at 8 seconds. Hints, which reveal the first letter and the number of letters in the capital, are only offered on Easy.
90% or above earns an A, and 95% or above an A+. The remaining bands are B at 80%, C at 70%, D at 60% and F below that, and the grade appears on the copyable report along with your raw score.
Yes — South Africa is the best-known example, with Pretoria as the executive capital, Cape Town legislative and Bloemfontein judicial. This quiz uses one designated capital per country, so where a country has multiple or disputed seats of government the answer given is the single one in the quiz's list.
