About this tool
Work out when to leave home for Doha DOH using drive time, traffic, check-in cut-off, passport control and gate-closing buffers.
This calculator turns a Doha DOH departure time into the single time you need to leave home, working backwards through the boarding-gate close, passport control, security, bag drop and the drive itself. It applies the larger of three deadlines - the three-hour arrival Qatar Airways advises at Hamad International, the airline check-in cut-off, and the time your own queue and walking estimates need - then subtracts the road journey after a traffic factor. Gates at the far end of Concourses D and E add real walking minutes after passport control.

Long-haul departures assume a longer post-immigration walk to the D and E piers.
Compares gate close, check-in cut-off and the three-hour airport advice, and says which one is binding.
Shows the clock time each step starts, from leaving home to the aircraft door shutting.
Three hours before departure is the advice for departures from Doha, and check-in typically opens three hours ahead too. Qatar Airways closes check-in 60 minutes before departure and closes the boarding gate 20 minutes before departure, so arriving inside the last hour puts your booking at risk even though the aircraft has not moved.
Allow around 90 minutes from the kerb to the gate for a normal departure with a bag to drop: roughly 20 minutes for check-in, 20 for security, 15 for passport control and up to 25 minutes walking to a far Concourse D or E gate. Peak departure banks push each of those queues up by about half.
The airport is on the eastern edge of the city, about 10 km from West Bay and typically 15 to 20 minutes by expressway outside peak hours. It is one of the closest major hub airports to its own city centre, which is why the terminal process, not the drive, usually sets the schedule.
Yes. E-gates are available to Qatari citizens, residents and eligible visitors and take about a minute once you reach the machine, while manual counters are used for everyone else. Budget 15 to 20 minutes for the step overall, because the queue to reach the gates is the variable part, not the gate itself.
