About this tool
Work out when to leave home for Bengaluru BLR using drive time, traffic, check-in cut-off, security and gate-closing buffers.
This calculator turns a Bengaluru BLR departure time into the single time you need to leave home, working backwards through the boarding-gate close, security, emigration, bag drop and the drive up Bellary Road. It uses the larger of three deadlines - the airport's advised reporting time (2 hours domestic, 3 hours international at Kempegowda International), the airline bag-drop cut-off, and the time your own queue and walking estimates need - then subtracts the road journey after a traffic factor. The 35 km run from the city is the part that decides whether you make the flight.

Kempegowda International is about 35 km from the city centre, which is 45 to 60 minutes with clear roads and 90 minutes or more from the southern and eastern suburbs in peak hours. Electronic City and Whitefield are the worst cases because the trip crosses the whole city before joining Bellary Road.
Two hours before a domestic departure and three hours before an international one is the standard reporting advice. If you are dropping a checked bag, the counter cut-off is the deadline that actually bites - typically 45 minutes before a domestic flight and 60 minutes before an international one.
T2 handles most international departures along with a share of domestic flights, while T1 continues to run domestic and a few international services. Both sit on one campus about a 10-minute landside walk apart, but always go by the terminal printed on your boarding pass because airlines have been moved between them.
It replaces the manual ticket and ID check at the terminal entry with a facial-recognition gate, which typically saves 5 to 10 minutes at a busy hour. It does not shorten the X-ray and personal-screening queue or emigration, so plan the full security allowance regardless.
