Rabbit R1 · Network & Internet
Connect the R1 to a Wi-Fi network
The R1 relies on Wi-Fi for most of its AI and Large Action Model features; some configurations also include an optional embedded data plan for connectivity away from Wi-Fi.
What you should know
- Open the Wi-Fi setup screen from the device settings and use the scroll wheel to navigate the list of nearby networks.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password using the touchscreen keyboard, then confirm to connect.
- The R1 shows a connection status indicator once it's successfully joined the network.
- If you switch routers or change your Wi-Fi password, reselect the network and re-enter the new password on the device.
Why it matters
Most R1 features — from voice requests to Large Action Model tasks — rely on a network connection to reach Rabbit's servers, so a solid Wi-Fi connection is foundational to the device working at all.
Best practices
- Keep the R1 within normal Wi-Fi range of your router, especially during setup and software updates.
- Reconnect to Wi-Fi promptly after a router or password change to avoid interruptions to voice and vision features.
Common problems and fixes
- Network doesn't appear in the list
- Confirm the network is broadcasting its name (SSID) and is in range, then refresh the Wi-Fi list.
- Connects but requests time out
- Check that other devices on the same network have working internet, then power-cycle the router if needed.
Tips and tricks
- If you have both an embedded data plan and Wi-Fi available, Wi-Fi is generally the more consistent option for heavier use like extended voice sessions.
Frequently asked questions
Can the R1 remember more than one Wi-Fi network?
Yes — like most Wi-Fi devices it can store multiple saved networks and will reconnect automatically to whichever known network is in range.

- Connectivity TroubleshootingBecause the R1 depends on a network connection for voice, vision, and Large Action Model features, most "stuck" or unresponsive behavior traces back to a Wi-Fi or connectivity problem rather than the device itself.
- Initial Setup & Rabbit Hole AccountEvery Rabbit R1 pairs with a free companion account called Rabbit Hole, created during first boot, where you connect third-party apps and review what your device has done on your behalf.
