Organize apps and connected devices on the Home screen
Pressing the Home button opens the Home Dashboard, a customizable launcher showing streaming apps, inputs, and Quick Cards for connected smart devices and game consoles.
What you should know
- Press the Home button on the Magic Remote to open the Home Dashboard.
- Point the remote at an app icon, click and hold the Wheel (OK) button, and choose Move or Delete to reorder or remove apps from the row.
- Select the Apps card (grid icon) to browse and add more apps from the LG Content Store.
- Quick Cards for game consoles and set-top boxes appear automatically when connected via HDMI and can be pinned near the top of the dashboard for faster access.
Why it matters
The Home Dashboard is the first screen most people see every time they turn on the TV, so keeping the most-used apps and inputs near the front saves real time compared to scrolling past unused default apps.
Best practices
- Move frequently used streaming apps to the front of the row and delete ones you don't use.
- Rename HDMI inputs (for example, "PS5" or "Soundbar") under Settings > General > Devices > External Devices so Quick Cards are easier to identify.
Common problems and fixes
- A connected console or player doesn't show a Quick Card
- Confirm the HDMI cable supports the device's output and enable Instant Change under Settings > General > External Devices for faster input detection.
- Home screen feels cluttered with pre-installed apps
- Hold the Wheel button on any unused app icon and select Delete — most pre-installed apps can be removed and re-downloaded later if needed.
Tips and tricks
- Pressing the Home button twice in quick succession jumps straight to the full Home Dashboard even from inside a full-screen app.
Frequently asked questions
Does deleting an app from the Home screen uninstall it?
Yes for most downloaded apps, though a few LG system apps can only be hidden, not fully removed.
