Sync Calendars From Multiple Accounts
Calendar account settings let you add and sync calendars from iCloud, Google, Exchange, Yahoo, and other CalDAV services, choosing which calendars are visible and how invitations are handled by default.
How to open Calendar Accounts
- Open Settings → Calendar → Accounts
- Tap Add Account and sign in to the service
- Toggle Calendars on for that account
- Return to Settings → Calendar to set defaults and colors
- Open the Calendar app to confirm events from all accounts appear
What you should know
- Each added account can enable or disable Calendars independently of Mail and Contacts
- A default calendar can be set for new events created outside a specific calendar
- Time zone override lets events display in a fixed zone instead of the device's current one
- Shared and subscribed calendars appear alongside personal ones with distinct colors
Why it matters
Most people juggle a work calendar, a personal calendar, and sometimes a shared family calendar, and Calendar account settings are what unify them into one view instead of forcing app-switching. Getting sync right prevents double-booking and missed events, which has real consequences for both professional and personal commitments. The color-coding and per-account toggles also help visually separate contexts at a glance, which matters more as the number of connected accounts grows.
Best practices
- Assign a distinct color to each account's calendar for quick visual scanning
- Set a sensible default calendar so quick-added events land where expected
- Disable calendars you don't need visible to reduce clutter rather than removing the whole account
- Use Time Zone Override when traveling to keep event times fixed to your home base
Common problems and fixes
- Events from one account aren't appearing
- Check that Calendars is toggled on for that account under Settings > Calendar > Accounts
- Duplicate events show up
- Check for the same calendar subscribed under two different accounts and remove the redundant one
- Invitations aren't syncing
- Verify the account's calendar sync is enabled and check Mail settings for invitation handling
Tips and tricks
- Use Default Alert Times to standardize reminders across all your calendars
- Turn on 'Show Invitee Declines' to see who's turned down shared meeting invites
