Understand voice interaction and the Trust Light indicator

The Pin is voice-first, and the Trust Light is a visual indicator on the device that lets you and anyone nearby know when it's actively capturing or listening.

What you should know

  • Speak naturally to the Pin to ask questions or give commands — no wake word press-and-hold is required for basic interaction.
  • Watch for the Trust Light to confirm whether the Pin is currently capturing audio or video.
  • Use the Center Click gesture on the face of the Pin to start or stop an interaction.
  • Review what the Pin has heard or captured later through your Cosmos account's Moments history.

The Trust Light is there so people around you can see when the Pin is capturing — being mindful of it in shared or public spaces is good etiquette.

Why it matters

Since the Pin has no screen by default, voice and the Trust Light are the primary ways you and people around you understand what the device is doing at any moment, making them central to both usability and privacy.

Best practices

  • Get in the habit of glancing at the Trust Light before speaking sensitive information near the Pin.
  • Use the Center Click gesture deliberately to end an interaction when you're done, rather than leaving it open.

Common problems and fixes

Pin doesn't seem to hear commands clearly
Make sure the Pin's microphone area isn't covered by clothing or the Battery Booster attachment, and try speaking again in a quieter environment.
Unsure if the Pin is currently listening
Check the Trust Light on the face of the device — if it's not lit, the Pin isn't actively capturing.

Tips and tricks

  • A quick Center Click is the fastest way to start a new voice interaction from idle.
