Use the palm-projected Laser Ink Display and touch gestures

Beyond voice, the Pin can be controlled with touch gestures on its face and can project an optional Laser Ink Display onto your palm to show content visually.

What you should know

  • Use the Center Click gesture on the face of the Pin for the core home action.
  • Swipe and tap gestures on the face let you navigate between options without speaking.
  • Hold your open palm in front of the Pin to view the Laser Ink Display projected onto your hand.
  • Tilt or move your hand while the Laser Ink Display is active to interact with certain projected content.

Why it matters

The Laser Ink Display and gesture controls give you a way to interact with the Pin visually and silently, which matters in situations where speaking aloud isn't practical or when you need to glance at information quickly.

Best practices

  • Hold your palm flat and steady a comfortable distance from the Pin for the clearest projection.
  • Practice the Center Click and basic swipe gestures early on so they become quick to use without looking.

Common problems and fixes

Laser Ink Display looks dim or hard to read
Try viewing it in a shadier spot, since bright direct sunlight can make the projection harder to see on your palm.
Gestures aren't registering
Make sure the face of the Pin is unobstructed and clean, and try a slower, more deliberate swipe or tap.

Tips and tricks

  • Combine gestures with voice — start a request by speaking, then use your palm and the Laser Ink Display to review the response visually.
