What is a SWOT analysis?

A SWOT analysis looks at a business, product or plan from four angles: internal strengths and weaknesses, and external opportunities and threats. This template gives each quadrant its own colour and a couple of starter sticky notes, so a team can fill it in together and see the whole picture on one board.

When to use it

  • Before a strategy session, business plan or funding pitch.
  • Comparing your product honestly against competitors.
  • Personal career planning — it works for people as well as companies.

How to make a SWOT analysis in SketchFlow

  1. Step 1: Open the SWOT template in SketchFlow.
  2. Step 2: Replace the starter notes with your own points, one per sticky note.
  3. Step 3: Add more notes with N or by duplicating one (Ctrl/Cmd+D) inside the right quadrant.
  4. Step 4: Circle the two or three points that matter most with E (ellipse) or freedraw (P).
  5. Step 5: Export a PNG or SVG for your report or slide deck.

Tips for a better result

  • Strengths and weaknesses are internal; opportunities and threats come from outside.
  • Be specific: 'Two-day delivery in our city' beats 'Fast'.
  • Finish by pairing a strength with an opportunity — that is your strategy.
