About this tool

Schema Markup Generator

Generate JSON-LD schema markup for FAQ, Product, Article, Local Business, Event, Recipe, Job Posting and 6 more types with live required-field checks.

This schema markup generator builds JSON-LD structured data from simple forms for 13 schema.org types: FAQPage, Article and BlogPosting, Product with offers and ratings, LocalBusiness with opening hours, Organization, Person, Event, BreadcrumbList, Recipe, VideoObject, WebSite, JobPosting and HowTo. As you type, empty fields are left out of the code, dates and durations are converted to ISO 8601, and the result is shown inside a ready-to-paste script tag. A checks panel flags fields Google requires or recommends for rich results, invalid URLs, wrong currency codes and dates in the wrong order. Your work is autosaved in your browser, and you can keep named drafts.

How to use Schema Markup Generator

  1. 1

Open Schema Markup Generator on AltFTool — it loads instantly in your browser.

  2. 2

Choose a schema type such as FAQ Page, Product, Local Business or Job Posting, or press Example to load sample data.

  3. 3

Fill in the form — fields marked * are required and Recommended fields improve rich result eligibility.

  4. 4

Fix anything listed under Checks, then press Copy code to copy the JSON-LD with its <script> tag.

  5. 5

Paste it into the page's HTML and test it in the Google Rich Results Test; press Save draft to keep a copy.

Why use Schema Markup Generator

  • 13 schema types in one place

Switch between FAQ, Article, Product, Local Business, Organization, Person, Event, Breadcrumb, Recipe, Video, WebSite, Job Posting and How-To. Each type keeps its own entries, so switching doesn't lose your work.

  • Live required-field checks

Every type lists what Google needs for rich results and what it recommends. Errors and suggestions update as you type, together with checks for URLs, ratings, currency codes, coordinates and date order.

  • Clean, valid output

Empty fields are removed rather than left as blank strings, nested objects such as Offer, PostalAddress and OpeningHoursSpecification are built for you, and the JSON is safely escaped for a script tag.

  • Drafts that stay on your device

The current form autosaves to your browser's local storage, and you can save up to 50 named drafts to come back to. Nothing is uploaded, and the generated code is not added to this page.

Frequently asked questions

What is schema markup?

Schema markup is structured data, written with the schema.org vocabulary, that describes what a page is about — a product and its price, an event and its date, a business and its opening hours. Search engines read it to understand the page and may use it to show rich results such as star ratings, prices or event listings.

What is JSON-LD and why use it for structured data?

JSON-LD is a way of writing structured data as a JSON object inside a script tag of type application/ld+json. It sits apart from your visible HTML, so you can add or edit it without touching the page layout. Google recommends JSON-LD over Microdata and RDFa because it is the easiest format to add and maintain.

How do I add schema markup to my website?

Copy the generated code, including the script tag, and paste it into the HTML of the page it describes — in the head or anywhere in the body. In WordPress, use a header-and-footer code plugin or your theme's custom code area. Then run the page through Google's Rich Results Test and check Search Console for errors.

Does schema markup improve SEO rankings?

Structured data is not a direct ranking factor, but it helps search engines understand your content and can make pages eligible for rich results, which often take more space in search results and can raise click-through rates. Markup must match what is visible on the page, or it may be ignored.

Which schema types does this generator support?

FAQPage, HowTo, Article (including BlogPosting and NewsArticle), Product with Offer and AggregateRating, LocalBusiness with 30-plus business subtypes and opening hours, Organization with ContactPoint, Person, Event with in-person, online or mixed attendance, BreadcrumbList, Recipe, VideoObject, WebSite with SearchAction, and JobPosting with salary and remote options.

What are required and recommended properties?

Required properties are the minimum Google needs before a page can show a particular rich result — for example a name and at least a price or rating for Product. Recommended properties are optional but add detail that can improve how the result appears. The checks panel lists both for the selected type.

Can I put more than one schema type on a page?

Yes. You can add several separate JSON-LD script blocks to one page, for example Organization, BreadcrumbList and Article on a blog post. Generate each type here, copy it, and paste each block into the page. Make sure each one describes content that is actually on that page.

Why don't my FAQ or HowTo rich results show in Google?

In 2023 Google limited FAQ rich results to well-known government and health websites and stopped showing HowTo rich results. The markup is still valid schema.org, is still read by other search engines and tools, and won't harm your page, but most sites should not expect those snippets to appear.

How do I test my schema markup?

Use Google's Rich Results Test to see which rich results a page or code snippet is eligible for, and the Schema.org Validator to check the markup against the full vocabulary. Links to both are below the generated code. After publishing, the Enhancements reports in Google Search Console show any errors across your site.

Is my data saved or sent anywhere?

The code is generated in your browser with JavaScript. Your form entries and drafts are saved only in this browser's local storage so they survive a reload; they are not uploaded. Clearing your browser data, or pressing Reset, removes them.
