This calculator applies the Schedule to the Telangana Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Act, 1987 to work out professional tax two ways: the monthly deduction an employer makes from a salary, and the annual enrolment tax a self-employed professional pays. Salaried slabs are nil up to Rs 15,000 a month, Rs 150 between Rs 15,001 and Rs 20,000 and Rs 200 above that, while enrolled professionals pay Rs 2,500 a year once they have five years' standing. It is aimed at Hyderabad payroll teams, consultants and employees checking a payslip.

For salaried employees it is nil up to Rs 15,000 a month, Rs 150 a month from Rs 15,001 to Rs 20,000, and Rs 200 a month above Rs 20,000. A full year on the top slab therefore costs Rs 2,400.
Professionals who enrol under the Act, such as doctors, lawyers, chartered accountants, engineers and consultants, pay nothing for their first five years in the profession and Rs 2,500 a year once they have five years' standing.
Employers must deposit the tax deducted from a month's salary by the 10th of the following month, along with the prescribed monthly return. Enrolled persons pay their annual amount within the period specified in their certificate of enrolment.
Yes, they are currently identical because both states continue the same 1987 Act after the 2014 reorganisation. Each state can amend its Schedule independently, so verify against the notification of the state where you are employed.
