About this tool
Track daily habits scientifically proven to boost brain neuroplasticity — exercise, learning, sleep, mindfulness, social connection, and nutrition.
The Neuroplasticity Habit Tracker is a daily five-item checklist built around the behaviours most often linked in neuroscience literature to synaptic growth and cognitive health: 30 or more minutes of aerobic exercise, active learning, 7–9 hours of quality sleep, meditation or deep focus, and meaningful social connection. Each item you tick moves a ring dial by 20 percentage points, the tracker suggests hitting at least 60% — three of the five — on a given day, and the board resets automatically at midnight so yesterday's ticks do not inflate today's score. It is a self-tracking aid, not a clinical instrument; talk to a doctor about any concern with memory, mood or cognition.
Open Neuroplasticity Habit Tracker on AltFTool — it loads instantly in your browser.
Open "Daily Neuro-Habits" and read the five cards: "Aerobic Exercise (30+ mins)", "Learned Something New", "Deep Quality Sleep (7-9 hrs)", "Meditation / Deep Focus" and "Meaningful Social Connection", each with its mechanism (BDNF, synaptic connections, glymphatic clearance, cortical thickness, cognitive reserve).
Tap each card you actually completed today; the circle becomes a tick and the card takes its habit colour, adding 20 percentage points to the violet ring.
Read the "Today's Brain Growth" percentage against the stated aim of at least 60% a day; the ticks save to your browser's local storage against today's date and the board starts empty tomorrow.
Restricted to exercise, learning, sleep, mindfulness and social contact, so nothing competes for attention with a habit that barely matters.
Every item carries its mechanism — BDNF release, memory consolidation and glymphatic clearance, cortical thickness, cognitive reserve — instead of just a checkbox.
Progress is stored against the date, so opening it tomorrow gives you a clean board rather than yesterday's finished list.
Five: aerobic exercise of 30 minutes or more, learning something new, 7–9 hours of quality sleep, meditation or a deep-focus session, and meaningful social connection. Each is worth 20 percentage points of the daily score, and the tracker suggests clearing at least three of the five, or 60%, on a typical day.
Sustained aerobic exercise is associated with increased release of BDNF, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, a protein involved in the survival of existing neurons and the growth of new ones. That is why the tracker sets the bar at 30 or more minutes of aerobic work rather than any movement at all.
Sleep is when memory consolidation happens and when the glymphatic system clears metabolic waste from brain tissue, so a day of learning with four hours of sleep behind it retains far less than the same day with seven. The tracker uses the standard 7–9 hour adult range as its threshold.
No — the day's ticks are saved in your own browser's local storage against today's date and never leave your device. Clearing your browser data or opening the tracker in a different browser will start you from an empty board.
