About this tool
Meter Reading Tracker
Log water and gas meter readings, see daily and monthly usage, and spot leaks or unusual spikes before the bill arrives.
Pick the meter, add readings with dates and see usage between them. Data stays in your browser. This page brings together 2 separate meter reading tracker pages (Gas, Water) so you can compare them without hunting for the right one.
How to use Meter Reading Tracker
- 1
Open Meter Reading Tracker on AltFTool — it loads instantly in your browser.
- 2
Choose your meter at the top: Gas, Water. On a phone it is a drop-down list.
- 3
Fill in the meter reading tracker for that meter; each of the 2 options keeps its own rules, data and defaults.
- 4
Read the result, then switch meter to compare. The page link keeps your meter (?v=gas), so you can bookmark or share it.
Why use Meter Reading Tracker
All 2 in one place
Gas, Water and the rest sit behind one picker, so switching meter takes a tap instead of a new search.
Built for each option
Every meter keeps its own rules, numbers and defaults rather than one generic template.
Shareable view
The link remembers the meter you picked, so a bookmark or a shared link opens straight on it.
Common use cases
- Estimate the next bi-monthly PNG bill mid-cycle, before it arrives, from your own meter readings.
- Keep a monthly meter log for a flat or housing society and see consumption per person rather than a single opaque bill figure.
Frequently asked questions
Which meter options does this tool cover?
2: Gas, Water. Pick one at the top of the tool; the page link updates (for example ?v=gas) so you can bookmark or share that exact view.
What is SCM in a piped gas bill?
SCM is the standard cubic metre — one cubic metre of gas measured at a reference temperature and pressure, and the unit your PNG meter counts. Domestic tariffs are quoted in rupees per SCM, and a typical Indian household kitchen uses somewhere around 12 to 25 SCM a month depending on family size and whether a gas geyser is connected.
How do I read a domestic water meter?
Read the black digits from left to right — those are whole kilolitres, each equal to 1,000 litres or one cubic metre. The red digits or dials after them are fractions of a kilolitre, useful for leak testing but usually not billed. Note the reading with the date; consumption is always the difference between two readings.
