About this tool
A daily Marathi vocabulary card with Devanagari spelling, romanisation, meaning, an example sentence and a saved streak.
A Marathi word-of-the-day deck of 30 curated words, each with its Devanagari spelling, a romanised reading, the grammatical gender, an example sentence and a note on usage or origin. The card is fixed by the calendar date rather than picked at random, so everyone studying on the same day sees the same word. A streak counter is stored only in your own browser.

Marathi has three genders and they govern agreement, so each card states which one applies.
The deck deliberately includes native Marathi vocabulary rather than only shared Sanskrit loans.
The same date always produces the same card, on any device and in any timezone.
Three — masculine, feminine and neuter. That sets it apart from Hindi and Urdu, which have two, and it matters in practice because adjectives, verbs and possessives all agree with the noun's gender.
ळ is a retroflex lateral, made with the tongue curled back, and it does not exist in standard Hindi. It appears in common words such as जिव्हाळा and मिळणे, and Marathi shares it with Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil and several other languages.
No. It is derived from the number of days since 1 January 1970 divided by the size of the deck, so a given date always produces the same word for every visitor.
In this browser's local storage only. It is never uploaded, so clearing site data or moving to another device starts the streak again.
