About this tool
Print areas and placement measurements for hoodies — chest, back, sleeve and hood — with the kangaroo pocket seam accounted for.
On a pullover hoodie the front print area is body length minus the drop below the hood seam minus everything from the hem up to the kangaroo pocket seam, because a flat platen cannot print across that stitch line. This guide calculates the front and back areas for every size, caps them at your press platen, fits your artwork ratio inside, and lists the offsets for left chest, centre chest, back, yoke, sleeve and hood prints. It is for print-on-demand sellers and merch designers who have had a design bounced for overlapping the pocket.

Offsets from the hood seam and the side edge, not vague placement advice.
It depends on where the pocket seam sits. On an Adult L hoodie 28 inches long, dropping 3.5 inches below the hood seam and stopping an inch above a pocket that starts 10 inches from the hem leaves about 13.5 inches of height and 22 inches of width, before the platen caps it.
Not on a standard flat platen. The pocket seam lifts the fabric so the print head or screen cannot make even contact, which causes gaps and distortion. Printing on the pocket itself is possible with a small dedicated platen, but many decorators decline it.
Around 3.5 inches below the hood seam, slightly lower than the 3 inches used on a t-shirt, because the hood and neck ribbing are bulkier and the seam sits higher on the body.
Usually yes for front prints. A design that runs 16 inches tall on a tee will not clear the hoodie pocket, so most sellers keep a shorter, wider front version for hoodies and reserve the tall version for the back.
